Julie A. Kern, CPA®, CFP®, CDFA®, Certified Dream Manager®

I’ve worked in wealth management since 2001, having earned both my undergraduate degree in Accountancy and my Master of Taxation degree from Arizona State University.

I’m a Certified Public Accountant, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional, Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® professional, and Certified Dream Manager®; indeed, I’m one of the few in the country (and the only one I know of in Arizona) with all of those certifications. They’re not just fancy titles; they assure you of the hard work and diligence I’ve put into building my expertise to serve you as best as I possibly can.

My journey to helping others achieve their dreams was inspired, and informed, by my own. It wasn’t easy, as you can read here. It’s also why I maintain a separate practice devoted exclusively to helping women with the financial side of divorce.

I consider myself privileged to work with an elite clientele. I’m honored to bring my professionalism and passion for helping others to people like you—who are unafraid to do big things, and create an exceptional life for themselves and others.

When I’m not serving clients, I enjoy spending time with my family, healthy cooking, reading, outdoor adventures, and CrossFit.

Julie’s story

My path to professional wealth management wasn’t originally in the cards for me. Indeed, a path to any kind of wealth at all seemed impossible. My rags-to-riches journey has empowered me to live my dream—and it’s why I’m so passionate about helping others to live theirs.

It all began in high school. When my senior year began, I eagerly anticipated what the next year of my life would bring. However, while I was busy planning to attend college, things took a sudden turn in a different direction…

I became pregnant.

Now, instead of applying for college and scholarships, I was applying for a marriage certificate and starting a family. Two years later—and right after Christmas—when I was eight-and-a-half months pregnant with our second child, my 21-year-old husband decided he wanted to be single.

The shock didn’t fully set in until a few weeks later, as I lay awake in the hospital after just giving birth to my daughter. My family had left for the evening and my soon-to-be ex-husband, who was present for the birth, had gone forever. With my daughter in the nursery, the room was quiet for the first time.

And I was alone.

Weighted with every financial fear I could imagine, I started crying without knowing. A nurse passed my open door and stopped to ask if I was okay. “No,” was all I could manage to say.

In that moment, I had to face the truth: I was a statistic. I was a divorced woman and single mother of two at age 20. No, I wasn’t okay—I was frustrated at where I was in life. And although I was now a statistic, from that point forward, I became determined that my children would not be.
