You’ve avoided “get rich quick” schemes. How can you double down on that strategy?
If you’ve spent your life watching other people chase the market, this article is for you.
You know those people I’m talking about. They go gaga over the latest financial fad (see “Crypto”). They’re addicted to what I call “financial pornography”: finance shows, podcasts, radio, TV. They think eight-percent returns are boring.
If you follow the money of all this finance porn, its motivations are painfully apparent. By peddling salacious claims and drama, these content creators simply make more money by attracting more eyeballs and ears. Their stock in trade is FOMO: fear of missing out.
You, by contrast, are smarter than that. You’re not fazed by the hype. While others try to get rich quick, you have patiently, and intentionally, gotten rich slowly. And you haven’t let the hyped-up drama scare you out of the market, either.
As a CPA and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional, I applaud you. You and I have a lot in common. And I believe that, as a Certified Dream Manager®, I can help you along the very path you’ve chosen.
Some truths: There are things you can control, and things that you can’t. You can’t control the market or the world or the economy. But you can control things like costs, taxes, and your asset allocation.
So I can help you play to your strengths—to the things that you can control. You know, for example, the value of diversification of your assets. But wealth management—and this is something that’s too easily overlooked—is about more than asset allocation. You can often find more alpha in wise tax planning than in picking investments. You’d be surprised how often I’m able to help clients simply by reviewing their various insurance coverages. And then there’s the estate-planning angle: You want as much as possible to go to beneficiaries you choose, instead of the state.
All of those FOMO-chasers would label your strategy as “boring.” Take that as a compliment! And ask yourself: “Is it truly boring enough?” There aren’t many podcasters raking in fortunes by talking about tax strategies. Sure, there are a handful of tax planning opportunities that apply to the masses—and those are out there—but the best tax planning must be customized to your unique situation.
Choosing the right wealth manager is all about the proper fit. Beyond the credentials and the experience (and of course I have both), it’s about an alignment with their values and yours. That’s the first step toward realizing, even expanding, your dreams.
Contact me for an initial consultation. I would welcome the opportunity to talk with someone as patient and prudent as you.
